The idea for a BMP wiki project was layed out coined by Dr. Christina Sieber in early 2009. The project was initiated in cooperation with CeDiS(Center for Digital Systems) in June 2009. At the time CeDiS, an e-learning and multimedia competence center of the Freie Universität Berlin, had just completed a wiki pilot system using the Confluence platform.
