2. Log in for the first time

Please navigate to the gray horizontal menu at the bottom of the page. Under Your Account click "Anmelden" and log in as described in the eMailImage Added In the top right of the page click Login. On the following page you need to specify your account type. Click the lower green button for Lokaler Login and enter the login details provided in the registration eMail. Finally, click Anmelden to log in. You will be redirected to a page providing an overview of all wikis at Freie Universität Berlin (Übersicht).

3. Change preferences

I will preset your language preference to English. However, in case this has not been done yet, you can make these changes yourself.

To change language settings, you must be logged in (see step 2).

At the wiki Übersicht page, move the mouse over your name and select Einstellungen (Preferences). From another page, you may just click your name on the top of the page. In both cases you , navigate to the gray horizontal menu at the bottom of each page. Under Your Account click "Einstellungen". You will be directed to your profile page. At the top of the page click "Profil bearbeiten", on Image Added
Select the Profil bearbeiten (Edit Profile) tab. On the left hand menu click "Allgemein", from Allgemein (General). From the pull-down menu next to "Bevorzugte Sprache:" (Preferred Language) select your preferred language. Finally, finally click the "Speichern" button. (Save) button to save your changes. Now you should be able to navigate the site on your own.

It's important that you change your password upon your first login. On your profile page click "Edit Profile" in the top menu, then click "Password" in the left hand menu.

5. Your profile

Within your profile you can also change your displayed name, your eMail address, and add a personal photo.

6. Your personal space

Maybe you noticed this link on your profile page. Your personal space is, in essence, your own wiki. You have your own mainpage, you can add subpages, share contact information, meetings you will attend, projects you're working on or you can prepare and test wiki articles within your space.

To get started, you should profile picture. Please add some information about yourself to complete the profile.

6. Look around

Through working on your personal space profile you already gained some experience. Next you can explore the wiki and see what's going on and what's lacking. Use the navigation menu on the left to skim through pages. Image Added

7. Ask a question or leave a comment

If you find things that are unclear or hard to grasp, let us know! Simply leave a comment on the respective page. Click Add Comment in the bottom left of the page and a comment form will open. To be noticed of follow-up comments or updates to the page, check Watch this page.

You can also add your wiki-related question to the FAQ page, either through leaving a comment or by directly typing them onto the page.

8. Edit pages

You will certainly discover small mistakes. Feel free to correct them instantly. You are always welcome to fill a gap with your knowledge.

9. Watch pages

The Rich Text editor will open. Here you can make changes just like you would in a regular text document. Click Save to confirm your changes. To return to the original page, click the View tab.

Image Added To receive notifications upon updates of specific pages, click the white envelope in the top right of the respective page to Watch this page. You can also Add page as favourite by clicking the starIf you discover pages of which you would like to receive update notifications, go to the gray menu at the bottom and click the little envelope icon under Other Features.

10. Come back

The most valuable thing you can do is to actively contribute. In other words , return often, leave your comments and suggestions, edit pages, add new pages, write, correct, and do whatever you enjoy.
