This game combines elements of charade charades with the students using prepositions to describe where they stand in relation to each other. They Students get to perform a forest animal and try to create a forest landscape.

Target group and Time

The lesson is best suited for children in 4th to 6th grade and takes up about 15 minutes.

Learning objectives

The main objectives is that the children can practice and improve upon their ability to describe where they are in relation to their environment and other beings in their close proximity nearby using spatial prepositionsterms.

Instructions to set up the activity

  1. Teacher hands out cards with different animals or trees according to the environment chosen for the task. Every student gets one card.
  2. Teacher forms two groups with the same number of children.
  3. Students in one group are asked to tell the others what it says on your card their card says using movement without showing them the picture. The others try other group tries to guess.

Letting it run

Once everyone is familiar with their cards, they are asked to come up with a way to perform their animal or tree and form an image a scene to present to the other group. Now it´s it's time to introduce the prepositions which I wrote onto the blackboard before the lesson startedwritten below. The students are now asked to perform for the other group whilst using the prepositions to describe ittheir. Eventually you could merge the two groups and add different prepositions if you want to continue.
