Further comments on the sand, depositional history, ecc.Die Nordküste von Maui empfängt mehrere 1000 mm Niederschlag jährlich und ist eine der regenreichsten Gegenden weltweit. Entsprechend intensiv ist Erosion und Verwitterung in einem subtropischen Klima. Wegen der steil eingeschnittenen Küste, dem kurzen Transportweg und der ständigen Aufbereitung an einem hochenergetischen Strand sind die dort anzutreffenden Basaltkörner recht frisch.
