If you are taking a Closed Book Book Exam you , you have to use the Safe Exam Browser:

  1. Launch the Safe Exam Browser by double clicking on the configuration file (ATTENTION: version 4.0.0, download available here: https://wikis.fu-berlin.de/x/IwS-Tg. Please make sure that you use the latest version. (Click here to get more information.)
  2. Launching the SEB leads you to our new landing page. From here you can scroll down to see the English version and:
    1. check your login credentials data and start your assessment. Click For this, click on : "Login pagePage".
    2. complete a mock exam to get a feeling for familiar with the user interface and assessment environment. Click on "Mock examExam".

Enter the login data you received from your professor/tutor. You will get the login data shortly before the examShortly before the start of your exam, you will receive the login data from us, which you need to enter on the exam page.

Important: The login data for an exam the exams is NOT not the same as your normal usual FUB login data.

You need to consent to the processing of the necessary data to take the exam (First name and Surname, E-mail adressaddress, matriculation student ID number, data from the exam) and confirm that you are authorized to take the exam.

You must also confirm, that you will not record or tape the provided exam and that you are aware that cheating of any kind will get you banned from the exam or in extreme cases, banned from the course altogether. Click "Accept" (in German: "Akzeptieren")

Please check the "I have read the declaration." box and click on "Accept" to proceed.

  1. Questions: The These are the exam questions (here numbered). You can directly click on them or use the arrows (explained below). You can choose freely which task you want to work on. A tick appears next to the task number as As soon as the task has been processed in any way (ticks setany changes happen to a task (options selected, text entered, etc.). The , a small tick appears next to the task number. This tick does not indicate that the new entries are correct - only that entries have been madesomething (whether correct or incorrect) has been entered.
  2. Top navigation (from left to right):
    • Arrow keysKeys: Use these to move back and forth between the tasks.
    • Mark: You can use this to mark individual tasks, so that you can edit them again later. The marker appears as a pin on the left side of the task, as in task number 2.
    • Attachments: This button is only available if attachments (documents such as images or PDF files, etc.) have been attached to the task. The attachments will open in a new window - . Alternatively, attachments can also be opened as a new tab next to the task; in the picture, see number 4 for "Attachment" in the figure.
    • Comment: Leave comments for the teachers in any taskof the tasks.
    • Calculator: Opens the calculator.
    • Notes: Notes: A pop-up window opens where you can enter notes. These entries will not be saved and cannot be viewed later on by the teachers.   
    • Finish: Submit the exam (see details below).
  3. Top right: Your remaining time for the exam.
  4. Attachments: (In some cases) , attachments can be opened as a new tab by clicking on "Attachments" next to the task.
  5. Question: In this area, you can see the currently selected task.
  6. Bottom right: : An indication on This shows you how many of the total number of task tasks you have already worked on and further to the right side, the maximum available points that can be achieved for this the chosen task is shown.

) Submit the exam and exit the session

  1. If you want to submit your exam before the official end of the exam period, click on the "Finish" button.
  2. The following security query appears, asking whether you really want to end the test. If you now click on "Yes", the test is completewould be finished. Please note that after this, you can no longer return to the exam.
    When the exam time expires, the exam closes window would close down automatically and is automatically the answers would be automatically saved and submitted.

Wichtig: Prüfungen werden erst ab der Prüfungsstartzeit aktiviert. Vor der Aktivierung ist dieser Knopf noch blau und erst nach der Aktivierung wird der grüne "Bereit"-Knopf angezeigt.

3) Prüfungsoberfläche

  1. Aufgaben: die Prüfungsaufgaben (nummeriert). Die Aufgaben können frei angeklickt werden und Bearbeitung kann in der Regel in beliebiger Reihenfolge erfolgen (sofern nicht anders eingestellt). Neben der Aufgabennummer erscheint ein Häkchen, sobald die Aufgabe bearbeitet wurde (Kreuze gesetzt, Text eingegeben u.Ä. Das Erscheinen des Häkchens deutet nicht darauf, dass die Eingaben korrekt sind - sondern nur das, dass Eingaben gemacht wurden.
  2. Obere Navigation (von links nach rechts):
    • Pfeiltasten: mit denen können Sie zwischen Aufgaben vor- und zurückgehen
    • Markieren: Sie können sich damit einzelne Aufgaben markieren, um sie später noch einmal zu bearbeiten. Die Markierung erscheint in der linken Aufgabennavigation als Stecknadel wie bei Aufgaben 2 und 5.
    • Anlagen: Dieser Button erscheint nur, wenn Anlagen (Prüfungsunterlagen wie Abbildungen oder PDF Dateien u.Ä.) hinterlegt wurden. Die Anlagen werden in einem neuen Fenster geöffnet - Alternativ können Anlagen auch als neuer Tab neben der Aufgabe geöffnet werden, siehe Nr 4 "Anlage" in Abbildung
    • Kommentar: Hier können Sie Kommentare für die Lehrenden hinterlassen
    • Rechner: Damit öffnen Sie den Taschenrechner
    • Notizen: Es wird ein Pop-Up-Fenster geöffnet, in dem Sie Notizen eingeben können. Diese Eingaben werden nicht gespeichert und können auch nicht von den Lehrenden später eingesehen werden.
    • Abgeben: Hiermit beenden Sie die Prüfung (Details siehe unten). 
  3. Rechts oben: Ihre verbleibende Zeit für die Prüfung. Sollte Ihnen Zusatzzeit für Ihre Prüfung zustehen, kann die zusätzliche Zeit erst nach Prüfungsstart vergeben werden. 
  4. Anlage: Prüfungsunterlagen können in einem neuen Tab geöffnet werden - Alternativ können Anlagen in einem neuen Fenster geöffnet werden, siehe Nr 2 "Anlagen" in der oberen Navigation
  5. Aufgabenbereich: In diesem Bereich sehen Sie die aktuell ausgewählte Aufgabe.
  6. Rechts unten: Ein Hinweis zu den bereits bearbeiteten Aufgaben und weiter rechts sehen Sie die für die jeweilige Aufgabe maximal erreichbaren Punkte.

4) Prüfung beenden und Browser schließen

  1. Sofern Sie Ihre Prüfung noch vor Ende der Prüfungszeit abgeben wollen, klicken Sie auf den "Abgeben"-Knopf.
  2. Es erscheint die folgende Sicherheitsabfrage, ob Sie die Prüfung wirklich beenden wollen. Wenn Sie nun auf "Ja" klicken, ist die Prüfung beendet. Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie nach dieser Bestätigung nicht mehr zur Prüfung zurückkehren können
  3. Bei einem Ablauf der Prüfungszeit schließt sich die Prüfung automatisch und gilt als abgegeben.

Bei Closed Book Prüfungen in Distanz:

Über den Button "Sitzung beenden" schließen Sie den Safe Exam Browser. Ihr Computer steht Ihnen nun wieder zur Verfügung.

Hinweis: Bei einer Open Book Prüfung schließen Sie einfach den Browser, den Sie für die Prüfung benutzt haben.
