The graphic at right shows a typical writing process. Depending on your personal style, you may find that you do not complete the steps in this order.
You might develop your topic or the structure of your work best through writing, crafting texts throughout the writing process and revising them as you go. Try different methods and see what works best for you.
Regardless of your writing style, it is a good idea not to wait to start writing until you have read everything. You can produce written material earlier on, during the research stage and while structuring your work. The actual text is developed during the revision phase.
Ideally, revising should account for about one-third or up to half of the total time you spend on the text.
