There are various approaches to researching literature:
Things to bear in mind when choosing your sources
- Sources must be published. (Discuss any exceptions with your examiner.)
- The source must be of reputable origin.
- Sources should meet scholarly and scientific standards.
- Subject-specific literature takes precedence over general reference works.
- Term papers should generally rely on both monographs and essays from scientific or scholarly journals and collections.
- Articles from weekly or daily newspapers can also be used if they are helpful for things like analyzing current issues in practice or cite certain data and facts.
Once you have obtained and analyzed your literature and sources, you should review and adjust or specify your specific topic, hypotheses, and methodology.

lThe Freie Universität University Library has produced a series of videos on working with the Primo library portal. These videos can be helpful when searching for literature if you are not yet familiar with the system’s search and filter functions, for example: www.fu-berlin.de/sites/ub/lernangebote/e_learning/index.html
