Before YOU start work in the SupraFAB Biolab, Optical Microscopy (OM)/Microfluidics (MF) facility, you have to get introduced by the Biolab Team to the lab safety rules and routines and you have to complete some administrative tasks.

This includes the following steps:

  1. Get a practical training and introduction by one of the Biolab technicians (Elisa, Johanna or Britt →  Biolab Team) based on the biolab agreemen AND beforehand

    1. Listen to the oral safety instruction for the Genetic Engineering Facility 92/14 (obligatory once a year) and become familiar with the safety guidelins, instructions and rules
    2. Fill the transoponder form including the 3 page: Questionnaire for Occupational Health Care
    3. Apply with zedat for an FUB zedat account
    4. Subscrivbe to the Biolab Email List and if you like, join the biolab whatsapp group for fast exchange of information: https://chat.whatsapp.com/FdKWiUfyOdw3he84e6eAcX
    5. Register for the instrument booking system OpenIRIS; the linked BioSupraMol page contains all important information and hand-outs for getting started, registering, and about booking devices and services.
    6. Provide your zedat account name to Katharina Achazi to get access to the data storage servers, the biolab wiki and getting included in the biolab/OM mailing lists; in case you have no zedat acccount, apply at with zedat to get a one.

If you passed the intro and you got transponder access some more action is needed

To access the OM facility microscopes, follow the instructions on the web page: Access to the Optical Microscopy (OM) Facility. In case you need to access the microfluidics, bacterial or virus lab, you need an additional practical training by the respective lab responsible person and you need to obey the additional rules for working with S2 pathogens.

In case you want to bring viruses, bacteria, cell lines or human material (including blood, serum, plasma, mucus or tissue) as well as reagents, assays, kits, antibodies or other substances to the biolab, register them in the wiki, provide the relevant safety information to the Biolab Team and make sure you are allowed to handle them in the biolab and you obey the relevant safety procedures. Hazardous subszatnces must be also registers in chemical data base of FUB the CLAKS.

For data storage we have the zellbio-useres network drive for the biolab and the BCP-storage for the OM/MF facility, as it is not allowed to connect USB drives to instruments of the biolab or OM/MF facility.

For printing, please use the Multi-User FollowMe-Printers (currently you have to use the one located in Takustr. 3 or any other institute building).

More information about SupraFAB you can find on the SupraFAB homepage and the SupraFAB wiki.
