Optical Microscopy (026/027) Access

Please note: In order to cover the  project specific costs of the Optical Microscopy Unit of the Core Facility BioSupraMol, a time based charge depending on the device and usage mode must be paid by the working groups specified in the BioSupraMols Usage Rules that can be downloaded from the BioSupraMol page: https://www.biosupramol.de/en/index.html

  2. Contact your OM Keyuser* for info,  support or training
  3. Subscribe to the OM Email List.
  4. (optional) As OM Keyuser, please subscribe to the Keyuser Email List.

More action for full access is needed, after you passed the device specific training and safety briefing described on the Microscope Setups, Devices & PCs page:

  1. (Optional) In case you do NOT have a FUB Email, apply with help of the your cooperating FUB research group for a guest zedat account
  2. : Biolabs & Optical Microscopy webpage.
  3. Make an appointment with the OM keyuser** of your research group, to get practical training (2-3 session with your own samples) & intro in the OM Guidelines and the BioSupraMol User Guidelines, the data handling (network) as well as the SupraFAB House Rules carefully.
  4. Watch the mandatory OM video tutorial and the optional video about confocal microscopy.
  5. Subscribe to the OM Email list. You can use the Email list (om-bsm-suprafab@lists.fu-berlin.de) to sent an Email to all user.
  6. Register yourself to for the instrument booking tool system OpenIRIS; follow carefully step-by-step the discription and hand-outs in the BSM page for getting started, registering, and booking devices and services.
  7. Ask your keyuser to add your zedat account to the BCP-storage in the MI portal.
  8. After succesfull training, fill  the participant intro list, ask your keyuser to confirm your successful training by signature as responsible trainer and send both forms to Katharina Achazi and Marta Maglione.
    *In case you are the first member of your research group that want to use services of the Core Facility BioSupraMol, your research group head needs to contact in addition the BioSupraMol Coordinator Mathias Dimde to get your research group registered as new user group of the facility in the booking system OpenIris and to establish access for your group to the BCP-storage server system on which all measurement data is saved and stored.
**If you cannot find out who is your OM Keyuser by asking your collegues or research group head or your group is a new user group and has no OM Keyuser, contact Katharina Achazi and Marta Maglione
  1. by following the pdf protocols on the OpenIRIS Booking System page and book devices always via: https://fub.openiris.io/.
  2. Get access to the BCP-storage network drives to safe and transfer your measurement data.
  3. To access the SupraFAB S2 Biolab, follow the instructions on the Biolab Wiki.

title*Keyuser

An OM Keyuser serves as contact person for the OM staff and will support the OM staff to train new users of the respective research group. If there is no active Keyuser, choose in agreement with the research group head a new Keyuser that will get trained from the OM staff but need to stay for at least 2-3 years and should be experienced in optical (confocal) microscopy.


Warnung

In case, your group never used the OM facility before ask your research group head to register to the booking system OpenIris via the request "Register with BioSupraMol/SupraFAB (BCP) @ FU-Berlin" and to contact the core-facility coordinator Mathias Dimde for establishing group access to the BCP-storage.
